always

I know you saw this in my shot of Times Square, but I still love it haha.  This is just the perfect symbol for Times Square in my mind, and I couldn't get enough of it. It's the real thing.

Walking around Central Park, we had to go through quite a few of these tunnels.  And as you can see, many many taxis pass through.  Always.  I know it's New York and I should've known they'd be everywhere I looked, but I still got excited shooting them.  Literally wherever you look there's a taxi.  I kind of like the composition of this one, because the contrast of the dark tunnel and the bright weather at the end of it could possibly be symbolic.  If you wanted it to be.  And the two taxis are just the cherry on top as a perfect subject of a shot of NYC.

horse and buggy

Something else charming and fun about cities.  I've seen these carriages around Salt Lake as well, but I see them at every corner here.  An abundance of them.  I just think they're so charming and darling and fun and I like this picture.

i love trees

I just had to throw this up here because I've been just amazed at the beautiful greenery here in New York.  It's not that it's absent at home, because Utah, especially around my house, is just this beautiful.  But in a big busy city full of skyscrapers and cars, it is refreshing to see this big, green oxygen filled trees on every street.  Like a breath of fresh air. I just love how this shot is bordered by green, and filled in with blue sky.  Summer is finally here!

happy memorial day

At Rockefeller Center, these flags seemed unending.  This is just one line of them but there must've been hundreds.  No, New York didn't let me forget it was Memorial Day.  I had the time of my life looking at New York through my camera, and I can't wait to show you some of the other shots I got.  But in celebration of this summer holiday, flags seem appropriate.  I also haven't been editing any of my pictures lately, which will soon change, but before it does I'd just like to point of the bald head I strategically put in this shot.  Definitely on purpose.

times square

This shot doesn't even come close to showing the business and excitement that is perpetually present in Times Square, but I think that I captured the feeling of brightness and happiness I felt while being here. Looking at this brings the feelings directly back to me of how fun it is to just be in this vicinity. I'm such a lucky girl.

new york city

As you'll surely see in blog posts to come, my favorite thing to shoot this trip to New York was the symmetrical shot right down the street.  I love the stunning architecture you see every place you look in New York, and with the gorgeous trees and typical taxi in this shot made this photograph a basic summation of New York City in my eyes.  It's a funny thing though the only way to get this shot directly down the street is when you're in the middle of it.. and I definitely got in the way more than once.  It was worth it.

oops

I'm supposed to blog a new picture every day this summer. I realize I haven't done this so far. Don't you worry Mr. Meyers, I have taken a picture everyday so far. I just didn't have internet in New York so I couldn't upload them. So above you'll see pictures from every day since summer began. And many more to come!

love love love

All you need is love. It's that simple.  This is one of my favorite songs, sayings, and they are words to live by.  I also love chalk and artistic expression, which is something I hope that a captured in this shot.  Again, this was taken awhile ago, but that doesn't make it any less mine, and it doesn't make me love it any less.  Kudos to this artist.

toaster

Oh brother. Silly boy. I love his guitar playing and I beg for it always.  His voice is my favorite sound.  And the second shot? A perfect capture of the attitude he has towards me the majority of the time.  The attitude might alter from annoyance to confusion to sarcasm etc, but this expression remains the same.  Haha so funny. Oh how I love him.

i love summer.

Yes, these were both shot last Christmas in Newport California.  Not exactly in summer, but the beaches, palm trees, couples, ocean and sun all remind me of summer.  And how excited I am for it.  I miss this place.  I miss the warm sun.  And as cliche as these images might be, I never ever get tired of shooting them. *blissful sigh

give me the green light

I don't often shoot in urban downtown areas, but I'm always so thrilled when I do.  I'm definitely going to do it much more this summer.  I love all three of the images together as a series, as it is a combination of my favorite things.  Bike rides, using my big lens, public transportation, sunset, John  Legend; doesn't get much better than this.  (I must admit the last image was in fact taken in March.. not just barely.. which is obvious because of the snow. silly me)
